I'm not sure why this isn't hotter. This is a very very capable laptop that would also make for a very good console replacement. Thermals are the one thing that give me pause but reviews should clarify that (and generally everyone makes well designed thermal packages these days).

If I had to buy a desktop or a laptop for a kid in high school, this would totally be an ideal pick.

I don't know how much I trust the Gigabyte brand, but the specs are absolutely unmatched at this price point, especially for the RAM

Unified memory makes it so you can run ~24B models and not get stuck with just the 8GB Nvidia (which is fine for small models).

idk if you can upgrade this to 64GB RAM though

Was thinking the model with the Mobile RTX 5070 is a better buy, but the card would still be TGP limited to 85w. So any gains that you normally see between the 5060 on this one may be negligible. Ergo, only get the better model if it gets very close in price to this one.

Nice, I think AMD unified mem + Nvidia is best blend for windows/linux if you wanna run larger LLM and still has nvidia on the cheap for super fast smaller LLM use. (or images/videos, slower but doable!)


Mac can't generate shit for images/video just fyi- you will be too frustrated to try as it is simply too slow.

It is a competent thought not special laptop for moderate users. The 5060 is neither good nor bad, but like plain rice.

You may be better off with a oled screen and no 5060 and high end cpu. https://slickdeals.net/f/19682919


Or spent a bit more and get a 5070 minimum
