We have 4 of these around the house to circulate air. It's easily adjusted to be vertical or horizontal which gives it some flexibility in placement. It moves a good amount of air. Good company warranty and support
A buyer might be disappointed because
The fan has a narrow band of air that would require you to sit directly in front of it . Does not oscillate. The buttons are hard to find when it's dark. It can be loud(ish) on high. There's no indicator light to show what speed it is on.
Easy to find for a cheap price after the season. Better to purchase at a physical store to determine if someone bought and swap. That's why it shows as frequently returned.
Dreo is currently king of fans. Their blade optimization and use of brushless DC motors means lower energy usage, much quieter and higher output than everyone else. They cost a lot more though. Vornado is solid, just older technology.

How is the Vornado brand? We are in the market for a tower fan. This price point works for us. What's the gold standard brand for a budget tower fan? Thank you for your attention to this matter.
I own 3 regular Vornadoes for 10 years now. It does an amazing job but I'm not a fan of the tower. Returned after 2 days. Not very powerful like the circulators
i had one of these and returned it. kinda useless in vertical mode with no oscillation. probably decent in horizontal mode but that's a low bar. bought a dreo instead and it's great.

this model is brushless DC. I have both brands and usually prefer Dreo for its DC motors and value, but I'm snagging this one at this price.

One of the best out there. Another solid longtime brand in the fan game is Lasko.

I have both brands. Vornado all the way long term and durability. Plus they maintain value longer as easy to sell used.
Vornado was acquired by ThreeSixty Group in 2018. It seems that since the acquisition, Vornado has branched out a bit more. One major change is that they now offer more lower-priced items than in the past. I'm under the impression that Vornado now has a lower bar for quality overall. A lot of these new offerings are "fine", whereas previously Vornado didn't even want to settle for "good".
A few years ago when I started looking at fans on places like SlickDeals, I'd commonly see the sentiment that Vornado fans were awesome. But when I jumped on some of the deals I found, I was underwhelmed. It's likely that since I was gravitating towards cheaper fans, I was having mainly experiencing their new unimpressive fans.
It looks like Vornado's more traditional fans, like pricier air circulators, are still heavy and well made. But if you purchase some of their cheaper or trendier items, you may find them to be underwhelming.

You're right. Since the acquisition and possibly sometime before that the quality of the product lines has gone down. Warranty and support still very good. Only certain products are USA built but most are now built in China with a focus on cost from my observation.
Vornado seems to be trying to squeeze more profit out of the name by building lower class products and building for other brands like sharper image and similar.
It's not truly an engineering company and seems more driven by private equity motives. I could be wrong but I have 30 years of products where you can see build quality over that span.

And he did...!
And I bought two Dreo's based on his review.

I don't want another noisy vertical fan in my house.
