Many of my chase cards also have a 10% back up to $9 and 5% back up to $4.50 as a chase offer.
My chase Sapphire Reserve is allowing 25% bonus on points used to "pay yourself back" at grocery stores. I wonder if that would apply to buying these cards. Normally I buy the no-fee cards at Staples when they go on sale but my Staples has had none in for a long time now.
Does this apply to Harris Teeter stores? (they are owned by Kroger)

You should be able to click the link and login with your Harris Teeter account and clip the coupon.
This did not work at Harris Teeter. At the service counter I was able to get the service manager to remove the fee when I showed him my clipped coupon on the HT website but it wouldn't be worth doing that again.
EDIT: I just checked and I was allowed to use the Chase "Pay Yourself Back" on this GC purchase. I had purchased a GC and loaded it with $500. It took 40,000 points to pay it off so a savings of $100 basically. Clipping the coupon didn't work without involving the manager but that was a 10-15 minute process... well worth it for $100 value.

I would also buy a few grocery items along with the card purchase so the transaction doesn't flag as a GC purchase.

Has that actually happened? I've bought many GCs solo, and never had that happen.
If they have item-level detail of the transaction (which I've heard is possible), they'd flag GC purchases regardless of what fillers you have. Outside of that, I'd imagine it's moreso large, frequent purchases not typical of grocery spending is what gets flagged.

I've been buying gc for years with my SYWR-now Citi TY Card large cash back promo offers and never had any problems

Turned out I didn't need to, at least this time. Should they run the PYB grocery discount again, I'll be buying more GC's.
