Really only comes into play if you regularly hit two handed & don't choked up when you do ime.
And how many pros are here on SD?
In my experience, foam paddles are great. Everyone that I know that uses a gen 4 paddle much prefer them over honeycomb paddles. Every single person. Yes, none of us are pros. Also my current all foam paddle has lasted longer than any other paddle I have owned. But I only play 5 to 7 days a week.

I play 7 days a week as a 4.0 player what do I know. All the people above 4 don't touch foam paddles. Yes the last longer but no they are not better. Majority of players my level or above all use honeycomb. Randomly you will get the 4.0 with a boomstick or a loco but that's about it.

I agree there is no right or wrong universal answer.
Ultimately it's a feel/confidence choice on which to go with ime.
TBH all this performance differences only matters when you have the control to take advantage of them consistently ime.
