These cheap calipers will eat your batteries. You basically need to store them with the battery removed. The Mitutoyo will cost 5x more but the battery won't be dead every time you need to use it.

I guess if you're reading this and the comments you are somewhat interested in calipers. I bought this pair years and years ago for $79. Things rarely go down in price but you just need to buy a pair at $22 because they are excellent. I think I may have replaced the batteries once. The stainless steel machining is perfect. Very well done.

Darn, it has fractional. I personally don't like switching between English and metric and have fractions get in the way. It's still a really good deal on a well rated calipers for everyone that doesn't have this pet peeve.

I guess if you're reading this and the comments you are somewhat interested in calipers. I bought this pair years and years ago for $79. Things rarely go down in price but you just need to buy a pair at $22 because they are excellent. I think I may have replaced the batteries once. The stainless steel machining is perfect. Mitutoyo is the only calipers I've found that won't eat batteries. I have one set for precision work, and half a dozen cheap ones to use for everyday tasks. I'm working on an easy way to add a battery disconnect switch to the cheap ones, but for now I remove the battery... except when there's a screw on cover.

Can anyone comment, Do these Hold a value when powered on/off, as well as hold correct value when moved and off?
Had sets in the past that did not, and are a hassle.

Does this set "Auto Off" when left on?
