I've had the Segway ZT3 Pro for about a year and it has been a great scooter. No big issues. I occasionally need to tighten the stem, and regularly need to fill the tires. It's comparable to this scooter except it tops at 25 mph and is built for both paved roads and gravel. It does good on moderate hills but it does not achieve its stated incline ability on really steep hills. I live in Seattle on top of a steep hill so I have to go up an alternate route which works fine.

This one is a bit faster and has a stronger motor, but not as good for crappy roads.

Expect real world range with stop and go to be closer to half what is listed. If I am in sport mode, gunning it, and going up and down hills, I probably only get 25% of the stated range. If I am on a smooth bike trail and put it in a cruise control at 16 mph, I can get about 75% of the range. The only way you are going to get close to 100% of the range is in eco mode going like 9 mph.

The Segway app is excellent and you can enable things like regen breaking. It also does fairly regular firmware upgrades which are actually useful, although you will hear people complain because sometimes the upgrades change things like reduce acceleration but for the benefit of something else.

I do recommend that you change the charging capacity to 80% in the app because that is a lot healthier for the battery. If I'm doing a longer ride, then I will charge it to 100%.

Also, it is not good to charge a hot battery directly after a ride, so within the Segway app, while you can't set a charging delay, you can set the charging time so I set mine to charge between midnight and 7:00 a.m. because I know I won't be using it then.

Overall, I have been very happy with Segway.

At bare minimum get a bicycle helmet for this - at the speed these go (up to 28mph) a motorcycle helmet is more wise.

Pre-launch price for this thing was $900 last year. It briefly dropped to $900 earlier this year in March as well.

The scooter states around 600wh. Given battery degradation and time and such, you are looking at around 500wh. The scooter can do 2000w max power, but it probably doesn't require 2000w to sustain 28mph on flat. I sah around 1000w. With only 500wh, you are looking at 1/2 hour ride at 28mph or 14 miles before you run out of battery. So yes what they are stating is not correct. You will get 1/2 the range they stated on the specs.

If this had 1000wh, then i would be more inclined to believe it.

Tightening the stem is not minor issue.

I got about 4000 miles on mine... back tire is getting a little bald but other than that it is still going strong. 28mph is mosdef enough to break bones if ya get launched... Thing must weigh like 55 pounds so it a bit rougher to drag around than some other models. Not a lot of complaints and I can smoke most of them serious biker guys while dancing a little jig so thats a bonus.

Little hint: Add the GT3 internal battery fits fine and 40% increase in battery size. If that's not enough add the external battery and add 50% more battery. My sons now goes 49miles at max speed per charge.

Wait --- exactly how much is a Segway GT3 battery pack and how much work is it to swap out the battery pack?

If you don't already have some, plan on getting some real safety gear if you buy this. Get a real helmet with a visor, not a mountain bike one. Even though 28 mph doesn't seem all that fast, scooters have so little mass they're absorbing basically nothing in a collision, you get it all. Road rash is also pretty brutal at that speed. You're rolling on 10" tires and you're basically completely unprotected by your vehicle, even a pothole could easily take you down.

You might think you look silly all geared up, but there's a dozen different ways to get cooked in an accident on a high speed scooter.
