These (and every other power tools manufacturer's) batteries are a colossal scam. It's ten 21700 cells in a 5S2P configuration, so about $20 of battery, a few dollars for the DRM circuit board, and tens of cents of plastic.

Always has been a scam and always will be. That's how power tool manufactures actually make money, not the tools. It is what it is.

These are packed cells and not 21700s. They are still overpriced and this isn't a deal.

For what it's worth the forge batteries have performed better in most tools, especially love it in the string trim and chain saws, but yeah these prices are just taking advantage of us 😞

Looking at previous sales and posts on slickdeals, this is actually a deal if you're in the market for an 8.0 forge. Of course they're overpriced, but if you've lived on this planet for more than 12 years you probably know that.

The previous low was back on January 23 from Woot for $115.99 and 20% off. My total came out to $98.94 including tax. There was a debate of fakes selling by Amazon/Woot.

I paid $259 in December from Home Depot for a 12ah and 8ah. This wasn't a deal.
