Early in my career I would carry shears. Now I just use the cheap one provided by my employer. Some things I realized. When you get a high acuity call the last thing you think about is getting your shears back. They get left behind or lost. By the time you realize they are gone it's the next shift. It doesn't matter if your name is on them. They just tend to walk. Leave them behind on a crime scene (shooting) and they become a part of the evidence once you leave. When it's a nasty call people are going to ask to borrow your shears because they don't want to get their own shears dirty. With that said sometimes it's easier to just toss out a dirty set of basic shears instead of cleaning what's on them. Blood, brains, pee, poo, meconium, bed bugs, etc.

Buyer beware. This is a good price, but it DOES NOT come with the sheath. While the listing doesn't say a sheath is included, it also doesn't say it's not. I bought this last week when it was the same price and didn't realize the sheath wasn't included until I saw the lable on the package.

These are Raptor Response models, which is the "light" version of their original Leatherman Raptor Rescue shears.
I researched them before, and the general consensus was that they are not as good as the Raptor Rescue.
Also, although shorter, they are bulkier and a little awkward to use comparing to the original model.

Due to all this (and probably low sales) I believe that Letherman stopped making this model and they are clearing remaining inventory now.

Yep. Trauma shears should be considered more of less consumable equipment.

There's a bunch of knock offs out there too. My wife was a trauma nurse for awhile and had bought some of the originals, and I bought a $25 set just to throw in the truck just in case. The cheap ones are close enough. Much better than I expected.

But as mentioned above, she told me most paramedics don't use these because they disappear and cost too much to replace.

Agree. Some bandage sheers from the OR are sharp and work well. These are okay. Not that sharp imo, and the ring cutter sucks.
