you beat me to it! I was about to post this. Great deal! I am thinking of what to do with my Acer Aspire 16 AI from Target (keep or return) - ChatGPT says how this is compared to the Acer Aspire 16 AI deal from Target that I posted earlier, this one has:
Upsides
  • Has better all metal chassis (rather than plastic and metal for Aspire)
  • Lighter at 3 lbs compared to 3.4 lbs for Aspire
  • OLED display is more power efficient for mostly black documents
Downsides
  • Has 250 Nits vs 350 nits brightness screeen, brightness better on the Aspire
  • Light Gaming is better on the Aspire - this has older Intel graphics which not as good as Intel Arc 140 V on the Aspire
  • Has only 60 Hz display vs 120 Hz on the Aspire
Update: Choosing the Acer Aspire 16 AI only since the Aspire has better brightness (350 nits vs 250 nits) and matte screen (near windows, less reflections and more brightness matters) and can do better light gaming. Besides has 120 Hz screen for better scrolling and gaming.

I wonder if it is fairly easy to upgrade the screen. 250 nits is tough to use when outside. Anyone got any input on screen swap out?

It is difficult to upgrade the screen. If you want to view outside, the Acer Aspire 16 AI deal that I posted has 350 nits (much brighter than this model's 250 nits screen) and matte screen (reduces glare vs this screen that is glossy). OLED is for deeper blacks, but for brightness, the IPS screen on the Aspire is brighter. Further, the Aspire can do better light gaming because of the better Arc 140V graphics. Besides the Aspire also has 120 Hz screen for better scrolling and gaming (this one only has 60 Hz screen)

I wouldn't get caught up in the screen brightness rating. I'm not even sure if it's accurate. I bought the i5/16gb/512gb version of this two weeks ago for my parents and the screen is beautiful and plenty bright for outside use.

Exactly! This is what i said on the previous thread too; It's 2026 and there's no way an OLED display would go only up to 250-nits. Even modern-day IPS displays start from 300-nits (unlike 250-nits from a year or more ago).
Just to make sure, the one you got the was the 2026 Ultra 5 3xx series, and not the 2025 Ultra 5 2xx series?

My laptop with a 300 nits IPS is hard to see while in the backyard. Computer is for my dad. His eyes are all worn out. I guess I can just bite the bullet and try it. Hate to return it since the rest of it is amazing

You sure? Final decision?

I am open to change my mind. Please let me know why I should choose this over the Acer Aspire when the Intel Arc 140V is better for light gaming on the Aspire (besides the 120 Hz screen on the Aspire, this has 60 Hz). And the display nits is higher (350 vs 250 here) - do you think there is an error in showing this model's display nits?

I purchased this unit today, so far so good. 900 with those specs was too good to pass up. I replaced an HP with 16 gigs that couldnt be upgraded, i need 32 gb. The screen looks good, i dont use it outside

so you want to buy a laptop and then right away upgrade the screen. Call Acer, they will hire you as a lead engineer.

Deep sarcasm, even for Acer...

Correct, the Ultra 5 3xx series. My parents came from an ancient laptop with a screen reminiscent of a half burnt out projection TV to this OLED and they were mesmerized that a screen could look this good.

I have one and I love it. The only thing I hate (on like all new laptops now, really) is the XXXXXL haptic trackpad. This one has the weaker gpu though which may be a dealbreaker if you want to play some games.
