It's the datacenter buildout. NAND fabricators shifted their product mix to be heavily datacenter focused because HBM and server based NAND products are currently higher margin. They've deprioritized consumer NAND like these MicroSD cards and SSDs, causing everyone to pay inflated prices due to demand now exceeding capacity. It sucks.

Code also works for the 64GB version to bring it down to around $13, fyi.

So the billionaires buy all the product for pennies on the dollar, thus raising our rates, but that's not the main attraction. The main attraction is that they don't want you and me to create uncensored AI at home. They want to control every AI system in the world, circumcised of course.

No. No, that is not what he said at all. Why would they sell anything for pennies on the dollar? Use your brain for once instead of your knee jerk emotional reaction.

They're not paying pennies on the dollar at all. They're hemorrhaging money. Still sucks for us either way

This. The fact they "can afford" to pay more for storage (in reality they can't, but since when has that mattered?) doesn't change anything on the consumer end. In this scenario, the only people winning are the manufacturers—and I can't very well blame them for gouging the highest bidder because I'd be doing the exact same thing in their position.

Let this be a lesson to plan for the future. I lived though the Thailand floods of the early 2010s when prices tripled overnight. It took many years for prices to normalize. I never forgot, and ever since I've planned accordingly.

Switch 2 requires a microSD Express memory card, so this is completely incompatible.

Because when you buy in bulk in the amount that they are buying, it's pennies in comparison to what we are paying.

Think AliExpress, just way larger. So the more quantity they buy, the cheaper the product becomes in price. That cost difference then gets transferred to us.
