Sometimes it's good to have the ability to switch out to an inexpensive watch instead of exposing your expensive Apple watch when you are going to do rough or dirty tasks.

Under China's 2017 National Intelligence Law, all Chinese companies are legally mandated to secretly hand over data to the government upon request, with zero ability to appeal to an independent judiciary. In contrast, US companies are bound by the Fourth Amendment, meaning law enforcement must prove probable cause and obtain a warrant from a judge to access your information. Furthermore, major US tech firms regularly fight government overreach in court, publish transparency reports, and use end-to-end encryption to ensure they cannot even read your health data themselves.
Cheap Chinese fitness apps, on the other hand, often require sideloading or aggressive permissions that bypass Western privacy standards entirely. Comparing a heavily audited US company operating under the rule of law to a manufacturer legally bound to act as an arm of an authoritarian state completely ignores reality.
Whistleblowers only exist in systems where the government and private corporations are actually separate entities that can be exposed. In China, corporate data sharing with the state isn't a secret conspiracy a whistleblower needs to uncover. It's literally written directly into their public national security laws.
