Great looking watch and great value!
Just make sure to use your phone for actual timekeeping, given Seiko 5's are rated for -35/+45 seconds PER DAY.

You don't know Seiko's well do you?
Seiko is VERY conservative in their time float estimates, and my personal experience is about 35-45 seconds A MONTH. Which is on par with some of the best mechanical automatics if you arent spending $20k +

I have this watch and love it. But... I agree that it isn't super accurate. My sample will be off by about +15s /day with normal wear. Even just sitting on my desk and hand winding it'll be ahead +12s /day.

It is a great looking watch. Love the GMT and classic design. But the movement could be better. This is a great price for GMT automatic watch.

I don't think people who buy mechanical wrist watches are interested in seconds per day.

Still not sure why I would ever need to precisely know what time it is, down to the second

Mine runs within COSC, anecdotal evidence doesn't mean much.

I hate the Seiko 5 logo. If you look around you can get a chrono or prospex diver for not too much more

Good watch for the price, do note it does run a bit large and heavy with this bracelet and cheap enough where you will just buy a new one in 10 years instead of servicing it. Also its a bit tall at like 14-15mm. And lower power reserve but it is a true made in japan. It ain't no prospex diver or alpinist but your also saving 1k at 95% of the style and functionality. I would always recommend buying a used high quality watch over a new one and this one can be had used for 150 - 200 but you loose the warranty.

A solid buy. Seiko is arguably the best value for your money. GMT is nice if you travel and gives it a little extra style. As for the 15 or 20 seconds a day. A lot of people have multiple watches and rotate through them. You might not wear this more than a day or two before you move to something else. You have to wind and set it again anyway. So I say, if you like how it looks and have the money....this is a nice buy.

I don't know why they have this new slant logo. The original or classic 5 logo looked really good.
