This short Baseus USB C cable is aimed at fast charging phones and laptops, and the braided build and 100W rating make it appealing for everyday power use. The coupon still works, and the code has brought the price down to about $4.26, with one note that it can apply to more than one item. The main catch is that it is USB 2.0 for data, so it is better for charging than file transfers. It also fits well as an in car charging cable with the right cigarette lighter adapter, a simple low cost pick if charging matters more than speed.

  • The coupon code can work for more than one item, which adds flexibility to the purchase.

  • The cable can be useful for in-car charging when paired with a compatible cigarette-lighter plug.

  • The coupon code reportedly remains active, which can help keep the cable near the advertised low price.

  • The listing picture can show a 480 Mbps transfer speed, which may indicate higher-speed data capability beyond USB 2.0.

  • The listing can bury the fact that the cable is USB 2.0, which limits expectations for data performance.

  • The cable may be a poor fit for file transfers because USB 2.0 data limitations can matter for moving data.

  • The cable can be less convenient than simpler charging-only cables because it may include data lines that raise security concerns while traveling.

  • The cable can be physically less flexible and more unwieldy when compared with lower-wattage USB 2.0 options, especially if it uses regulation chips in the plugs.

The listing buries the fact this is USB 2.0.
While I see your point that it's not stated in the title or in the listing title on Amazon, there's a picture in the listing showing 480 Mbps transfer speed.

Duh. It's marketed as a charging cable. Any cable marketed as a charging cable should be assumed to be low-speed data unless otherwise specified.Cables offering 100W+ AND high speed data usually aren't this cheap, at least not from reputable brands.
Exactly!!

Folks want it all but not willing to pay for it.This cable charges. That's its selling point.

What cables do you recommend?
This 240W USB4 cable is only ~$8.50AC. I got it last year for $4. Not sure why people think here think it's impossible for high speed data cables to be cheap. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C93G2M83?

I got a 10' 240W USB4 cable earlier this year because I also wanted one cable to rule them all and for future proofing. I wish I had gotten a 100W USB 2.0 cable though. The 240W USB4 is just so thick and heavy, much less malleable, and I've never had to do a file transfer with it yet. Plus I don't even have a 240W charger. The plugs on each end also need a chip inside for regulation which makes them more unwieldy.

a31x, thanks for pointing this out - too many cables floating around my house that are one or the other.

Ideally a charging cable would only charge and not have any data lines.

It's protection against getting your phone or laptop hacked. Especially when you travel.

I might buy one to verify if it has data lines for the next time they go on sale.

USBC is inherently not USB 2.0 so I'm not sure how its getting its designation other than it doesn't have USB 3 or better data rates.
