When this deal was posted in May a responder (Danimal86) said Makita batteries will also work in this saw. Buying an additional saw with extras is also a cheaper solution. Makita batteries or even generic equivalents are more expensive unless you already own a Makita cordless tool and have a battery or more.

I can confirm, makita batteries will work in this one. I am buying another now. Gave the extra one I had as a gift

I bought this exact saw end of July beginning of August for the same price $20 and this is the best purchased. I've ever made both batteries last enough for what I'm doing. I've cut branches that are almost the width of this saw it has been amazing before this I had to use. I had a pruning saw on top of a big pole that's connected to electricity but then you're stuck with wires a bit and I keep having to taking it on and off the pole and I also have a full-size chainsaw that's battery powered and I don't wanna get something out that big and heavy when I need something. That's a hand size so this one has been perfect as soon as I got this in the corner of our yard we had a whole bunch we put a whole bunch of branches and stuff over there that was taken down to due to weather with this. I was able to take short work of cutting stuff down, cutting it down to bite-size pieces you could say and giving it to my neighbor so they could try and put in there woodstoves I don't have a woodstove so that they were able to dry and use the maple wood so this has worked unbelievably good. I'm not had a power issue and the battery loss both of them for me quite long.

Prone to rust. I have this and left it in my patio for about a month. Now it is jammed due to rust I guess. I am trying to get warranty support at this point.

If you're in the Bauer line at HFT I highly recommend that brands pruning saw since you can use their 3AH or higher batteries with it and get even more power and run time and also have a fast charger. This is still a good deal if you aren't into that line of tools!
