I ignored your reply, because this was your response to my posts last time...

I tested an Acemagic unit last year, and one of the sub-branded units (Kamrui) this spring. Both contained the same RedLine based clone. It's current, not whatever nonsense AI has gleaned from articles and videos from a couple years ago. This specific manufacturer is the worst offender, not just that they were caught, but they immediately turned to an astroturfing campaign. They are heavily incentivizing misinformation with techtubers, etc. to regain sales in the US. Again, I'm a retire hardware industry analyst, and near 40 years in PC repair. I am not a cybersecurity guy, and I'm not writing a guide here as "proof". Mini PCs are a tiny market segment, but they do come in, and these I specifically test for all kinds of malware (RedLine, Lumma, Smoke Loader, Amadey, etc.) when I see them (I'm not letting them anywhere near a private network of mine). They create a new sub-brand every time I turn around, since it is just a matter of time before they are sanctioned and banned from sale in the US. In the meantime, expect most mini PC reviews on youtube to be about them, most deals to be about them, and the most vocal defenders to be about them.
You still haven't answered my question. Have you found such malware in the firmware, and is there ANY instance of it getting installed in a Linux distro? I would seriously appreciate any findings of such, as I bought a Kamrui last spring and I'm running Linux on it for my desktop. I've scanned with all of the advanced tools available for 'nix and it's still squeaky clean. Not really a fan of the Kamrui due to the subpar components in comparison to a Bosgame P3 unit purchased around the same time (name brand components in that) which will become my Proxmox host when I find time to configure everything.

I believe your findings about the malware baked into their supplied Windows, and personally I would never run that OS 'preloaded' from ANY manufacturer. Full (entire disk) wipe and fresh install *IF* I were to ever use that M$slop. I'm specifically looking for evidence/experience of your "it's trivial to kit out firmware to make malware permanent" claim here.

It's great that you post those warnings directed at the novice users that are prone to run whatever comes preloaded. Not trying to be adversarial here, I would truly like to know about the bios/firmware claim(s).

Thank you.

There's no fresh start, your comments from the other threads are algo scraped, and I decide what gotcha questions I answer. The infostealers above are obviously Windows based, but the bootkit / rootkit that are common now will not be detected (BlackLotus, CosmicStrand, MoonBounce, LoJax, etc.) and half are OS agnostic. My warnings are not for "novice users", and I lump you in with them, since you are using this manufacturer's mini PC on a private network. You have a strange idea your system is safe, because you wiped the drive and no one has physical access. The manufacturer has deliberately infected units prior to purchase, this is proven, despite all the astroturfing from them. Bottom line, coming to a coupon site and defending your purchase, and the manufacturer, just because you think you're an advanced user by installing Linux is just wild. The malware I am posting about is the reason the units are distributed, the stealer logs are the real prize, sold to the highest bidder.

A bit late but as you can tell, it's just more fear mongering. No technical proof, no links to anything... Just lots of of blah blah blah, and most importantly, no solution to remove this mythic malware that can't be wiped.

That's it, just throw a perfectly good mini pc to the landfill, can't save it. All the ram and silicon, just trash.

Yup. He uses all the buzzwords in replying, then gets all smug and provedes zero proof. If he were to produce it now I won't see it. He's one of the special people I blacklisted here. Him attacking my abilities was the key for that decision.
