In 90+ degree heat I would still be concerned over it exploding or something. Especially when cars are like 30 degrees hotter inside
I agree. It's cool where I live by the ocean. When I work where it's hot I leave the windows open

I have a 4000a one from another company that looks 100% like this. It works but honestly have my doubts about 4000a with mine OR even this one at 5000a.
Considering a typical car battery can only supply about 5 to 800 cold cranking amps, I think 4000 amps is more than enough to turn most any engine over. Even just 1000 would be plenty for the majority of cars.

Sad that the time for you to find out this cant do 5000a is when you're stranded and need a jump!
I genuinely would like to know who needs 5000amps? What in the world are you trying to start? A typical car battery can only supply a few hundred,.. like 5 to 800 cold cranking amps and is more than enough to start most any car. I think 5000 amps is a slight overkill.

Can these jump starters be left in a car without issues? I figure heat has gotta affect the built in battery. And if so, how long does it last between changes?
Yes. I leave one in each car.. In Florida. I have for over a year with no issues. After a year in the trunk, it was at 86% left on charge. I used it a couple times on a relatives van.

Generally yes. I've had one in my car for a couple years. Then when I needed to jump start it worked. I usually leave it charged to 70-80 percent since it will mostly sit. At that level it can still do one good jumpstart, sometimes two. At full charge I believe 3. Helped me a lot when my battery charge started leaking and then dying.

UPDATE: I just received my order. This is not a Hulkman quality rebrand. Sending it back.

This looks a lot like a Hulkman jump starter, as mentioned by a few commenters.

I've got a bunch of Hulkman chargers, accessories and a larger capacity jump starter. All have been very reliable. In for one

The 5000A is just a number the manufacturer decides to report. Probably a theoretical peak calculated by dividing voltage by internal resistance.
CCA is an actual test measurement of a battery cooled to 0 deg F and after the 30 seconds of the CCA rated amps the voltage has to remain at least 7.2V.

Over 30 seconds the leads on these types of chargers would go "poof" at way, way less than 5000A. A solid bus bar would be used to carry a sustained 5000A. Or several thick welding cables in parallel.

You didn't answer my question. Who needs 5000 amps? The answer is nobody. If a typical car battery can provide 6-800 CCA and is more than adequate, 5000 amps is unnecessary. It's just marketing. People see bigger numbers so it must be better than smaller numbers but in reality, 5000 is overkill and even just a a couple thousand would be more than enough to turn over & start the engine on 95% or more of the cars on the road. So for example, If I hooked up a fully charged identical battery, the same 6-800cca battery as what you already have under the hood with very short leads, it would most likely start your car with no problem, even with the dead battery pulling some of the available current.

I'm pretty sure that I did: You can't have 5000 A. It's not possible to get 5000 A. Those leads would vaporize. And yet cars and trucks are starting all over all the world all the time, in spite no-one having 5000 A.

CCA is a real number resulting from a test (real assuming that the test is conducted honestly) and is entirely different from a fictitious/theoretical short-term transient peak "5000 A" number reported by the manufacturer.

Saying "You can't have 5000" and explaining things I never asked about doesn't answer my super simple original question of "Who needs 5000amps?" The answer is simple. "nobody needs 5000Amps." Not "It's not possible to get 5000 A. Those leads would vaporize. And yet cars and trucks are starting all over all the world all the time, in spite no-one having 5000 A." and everything else your talking about. You're over analyzing my question and talking about stuff that doesn't answer my question. relax my guy. The answer is "nobody needs 5000Amps" it's as simple as that.

Everyone all over the world is starting cars and trucks with no-one ever having had 5000 A. What does that say about needing 5000 A? Everything to most people.
