If you know you won't want to plug in 2 XLR or 2 1/4" inputs at the same time, this is great. It has a single 1/4" and a single XLR only (not combo). If you think there's any chance you may want to plug in a stereo source or two mono sources with the same connector, you may want a different interface.

Yeah, You make a good point. When you upgrade to at least this one, you also get the "clip safe" feature, which I wish I had on my Gen 3! Supposedly it has extra headroom and can "save" the input from too hot of a signal if you didn't have the manual gain set correctly.
Have a gen two "2i2", which works but was a bit of a hassle with codec and driver requirements in windows. It also needs power from the recording source, which is not ideal. The solo interface here doesn't have an option for dedicated power but the 4th gen 2i2 does (also on sale). Looks like an upgrade! Thanks for sharing

I've also got the 2nd gen 2i2, and this is a tempting deal. I'm having trouble pulling the trigger on this though since my current one serves me well enough with no real complaints. The extra headroom on the 3rd and 4th gen is appealing though, since my guitar has some pretty hot pickups and clips fairly easily.
