Royal Oak Super Size briquettes are a low-cost charcoal option that stands out for the large briquette size, long burn time, and strong value for smokers and long cooks. The deal can drop to about $2.93 per bag when three are added to cart, with free shipping or pickup in some cases, and the larger bags can stretch a year of use for some setups. The main drawbacks are that the briquettes can take longer to light, create a lot of ash, and arrive with broken pieces or packaging damage. A practical pick if you want cheap bulk charcoal and can handle the tradeoffs.

Common Questions (5)

  • Add 3 bags to the cart and the price drops to the promo total, with the per-bag price showing around $2.93. The deal can also require choosing the subscription option, though some accounts still see the 3-bag discount without subscribing.

  • The limit appears to be 8 bags per order. You can place separate orders to buy more, and one workaround used was splitting purchases into two orders with different subscription lengths.

  • The briquettes are described as larger than usual and useful for smokers because they pack more energy into the same space and can last a long time before turning to ash. They also work well for adding wood to the mix and for offset smokers needing steady heat during long smokes.

  • They can take a few minutes longer to get burning, and some bags are reported to produce more ash, burn dirty, or arrive broken up. Other uses still found them fine for grilling, but they may be less ideal for high-heat cooks like ribeye.

  • Free shipping is available on some orders, and store pickup is free. MyLowe's Rewards status can affect whether shipping is free, and some Pro accounts may not see the subscription option at all.

I've got 3 for 9.99 and nothing about a subscription which is GREAT. Free shipping too. I am a Pro member maybe that is why.
Yeah, it's the Pro thing. No subscription option for pros. I had to place the order with my non-pro account.

When my new Lowes opened up less than a mile from me they had this charcoal on sale for this price. It took me a year to burn through 9 bags... charcoal is larger than usual and it lasts for a very long time before turning to ash. For their size they lay flat well to add wood to the mix as well. Definitely recommending this product.

Great price per pound for mid-grade charcoal. It ashes like Kingsford, but doesn't have the piney taste (which some people, oddly, like). Takes a few minutes longer to get burning, but no big deal. The extra large size is great for smokers - more energy density for the space consumed.

Good deal. Delivery Jul 5th.
I am wondering how well they will fit in those Chimney starts given their large size.

I finished up my last bag of this & opened up a bag of Kingsford. The Kingsford burnt up in no time compared to the Royal Oak. I like this stuff due to the larger briquettes which last a lot longer before burning out. I grabbed 3 bags only since I've really not been grilling out too much anymore due to high meat prices 😒.

Bottom of the barrel briquettes. They burn dirty, burn quick, and leave a ton of ash. Kingsford blue is a tad better imo. If you want something good, B&B orange bag followed by Cowboy briquettes are my top choices.

Lamp charcoal I don't know. But to lump charcoal it doesn't. Real wood charcoal can't be beat.
