The FIREBAT AM02 is a barebones Ryzen 7 H255 mini PC that looks strongest as a compact general rig, HTPC, or retro gaming box once RAM and storage are added. The 780M graphics are described as solid for emulation and light gaming, and the chip is treated as broadly similar to other 8745H class parts, with no NPU on the H255. The catch is the extra cost of DDR5 SODIMM memory and NVMe storage, which can push the real total much higher. Cooling also looks modest, with reports of warm sustained loads and a likely 45W limit, so it suits lighter use better than long heavy GPU work.

A 1TB NVMe starts at $130 retail, $100 on eBay for ~100% drive health open box. 512GB drives are around half those prices.
You're looking at roughly $180+tax to get a usable 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD PC going with secondary market parts, ~$300+tax new parts. (2x8GB DDR5 5600, 512GB SSD)
For 1TB NVMe / 32GB RAM, used falls into the $370+tax range for used, $510 new. There have been quite a few non-primary brand 1TB SSDs (Silicon Power, Timetec, Adata) popping up that are decent alternatives to Samsung, Micron, Sandisk and the other primaries.
I would be tempted to buy this if I didn't already have a Beelink SER7 up and running. These Zen 4 / RNDA 3 minis make good general rigs, with the 780m still performing reasonably well with games. These Firebat AM02 don't have the most robust of thermal solutions however, so it's questionable how well one of these will handle a consistent stressful load on the GPU for long. My SER7 can take the full 65w TDP the 7840hs is able to consumer and puts out quite a bit of heat, but it's also a fairly robust thermal solution for a mini. The AM02 thermal solution looks like it'll struggle to keep more than a consistent 45w.
H255 is a Chinese market chip boosting only 4% lower in CPU clocks as that market is extremely price competitive. The iGPU is equivalent to any 780m in any other CPU.
The main difference is that while the AMD Hawk Point NPU are marketed as 'AI' chips; the H255 has the XDNA NPU disabled. So it cannot run a micro-LLM model on the NPU; of course you can still run an LLM on the APU instead. But no one should be buying a machine like this to run any local LLMs.
There is nothing 'defective' about this chip. By your definition, any chip that is not top binned of the generation is effectively defective.

I already have 4 mini PCs lying around and I don't know what they can be used for.

So why buy more if you are not even using the ones you have
Edit/update: It's July 7th and I'm still waiting for the package to be picked up.
Edit 7.9.26: The PC is in WV so it should be delivered tomorrow.
