With an XR hub, the "Outdoor 4" cameras have extended network range, and the hub has a mIcroSD port that stores locally, so technically no (with the XR/XR+ hub).

If you registered Blink cameras as an early adapter, you have lifetime free cloud storage (so far). They tried to change that and there was a lotta negative feedback, so here we are.

We use the Blink system, and are extremely happy with the results. Now - we're legacy, so I don't know if I'd keep it with a subscription since that's why we got it to begin with. That and not having to run wires.

The "win" is to get the Outdoor 4 cameras and an XR hub or two. This bundle has their precious generation "Core" hub. No onboard storage. Only the "Module 2 Hub" also has that, and it requires a USB.

No subscription needed if you have a "sync module" but then the features are very diminished. Only records while there is movement, doesn't continue recording for a minute after, even though that's what I set it for, doesn't record if you're streaming, doorbell only records while the chime sounds and not a second more. Cameras always state battery to be Ok until they aren't, then cameras won't turn on until you change the batteries(no low battery notification). My experience with them hasn't been good at all. Really wouldn't recommend.
