The Monolith 7 channel amp is mainly a headroom and expansion piece for home theater setups, especially when an AVR is hitting low power limits or needs extra channels. It can run cool, add dynamics, and help with future Atmos or 7.2.4 upgrades, while some setups barely change because the receiver already has enough power. The main cautions are reported hum on some units, a two prong power cord, and occasional compatibility quirks. It fits best when the system truly needs external amplification.

Not even A1 Evo?
The short answer, no A1Evo can't do what the full suite of Dirac can, mainly because of ART.

What makes all this exponentially more complicated is the worth of these differences.

As I mentioned earlier Audyssey just keeps improving.
A1Evo is a perfect example.

People love to say Dirac is head and shoulders better than Audyssey(not really true), well not anymore.
Some even say A1Evo still isn't & technically true but free not worth it.
Think DLBC vs DL, that's the gap now.

TBH as great as Dirac(especially ART) is you should have the equipment(speakers) to make it worthwhile imo.
How well it works is heavily tied to the quality of your speakers, it's not a magic pill.

Again, it does not seem like you have any experience putting together a system for a mid sized room.

Although dialog may coast along at 85 decibels, peaks can easily hit 120+ decibels in a movie theater. If you want those peaks to be undistorted at home, you need clean power reserves.

You would hate my TIG welder, it has a 100 amp breaker all to itself.

Audiophiles pass away, and their wives and kids don't want any of that stuff. Martin Logan Prodigy, Revel Salons, Aragon amps.... all stuff that once was worth $$$$ is now just passed on 'to someone who would appreciate it'. Sometimes the kids will poke through the vinyl and take a few souvenirs, but they sure are not interested in hundreds of heavy records.
I have plenty of experience doing this and plenty of experience visiting other theaters put up by real people with speakers less efficient than yours, with less power, and run very clean well over triple digits.

Peaks do not hit over 120dB. That is straight up wrong unless you are boosting past reference. 105dB is the peak for full range and 115 for LFE. But you said you don't listen that loud, so why does it matter? Also, as I have already mentioned, clipping up to 6dB can go

next time you are listening at your preferred level, go throw a power meter on one of your amps.

I'll move on now. It's a good deal. I just hope people actually think and learn how this stuff works and not just go off someone else's FUD and feels as to why they may need an amp.

I find it interesting when people are looking for deals but don't do the research. If you have a decent receiver that provides decent power to all your used channels, then you most likely don't need a 90-watt external amp for "normal" use. I did use a Monoprice 2-channel amp when I had my RZ50, but only because I needed it to power 2 extra Atmos channels. Now that I have the RZ70, it is not being used at all.
Likely people want the quick/easy answer but there really isn't one.

More often than not that research is used to debate it as a universal answer & it's not.

In general terms I kinda agree with you.
A decent receiver provides enough power in normal use cases.
An external amp is pretty low on the totem pole on improving the sound imo.

It's actually fairly easy to research:1) Get opinions and benchmarks from sites like ASR or AVS. I would have included Audioholics but they have paid advertising on their site (unlike ASR, which is entirely consumer driven).2) You won't find much audio truth in SD and similar sites. It's full of vendors who want to steer you one way or the other. Just look at all the "fights" b/w supermanrob and turnne. They always feel like their commission's at stake when you bad mouth their products. LOL!
LOL "audio truth"!!!

Like "turnne", says the guy that uses "ASR or AVS" as their "audio truth" and fights with people that have actually used the products!!!! LOL

If you don't agree with their "truth", that clearly means you're "bad mouthing" their products!!! LOL

Concerning the amp in this deal, I wasn't able to track any pro reviews. There is mention in the Audioholics forum that it didn't bench well back in 2023 and so a formal review was never given. Due to this and the fact that there's a prevalent hum, I'd personally stay away from a purchase. I'd rather pay double or more for a well-reviewed amp. How does a "competent multi-channel amp" cost $325 in 2026?!! Something doesn't add up...

Where did you get the information that 8 ohm speakers are rare? Klipsch, Emotiv, SVS, and many others produce 8 ohm speakes.
Of course Klipsch makes 4, 6 and 8 ohm speakers; but as you walk through your local audio shop, you see that the selection of 8 ohm continues to shrink.

And even when many Klipsch speakers have a "nominal" 8 ohm rating, looking at the impedance plot and you see they drop to 3 or 4 ohms.

If you want to see how the industry has changed, look in the vintage room at your local shop and see that many speakers used to be 24 or 32 ohms.

Nowadays if a shop has a couple new pair of 10 or 16 ohm speakers you think to yourself 'This place has a huge selection! '.

....and the times they are a changin'....

The warning sign at my Imax theater for Oppenheimer said that peaks of 120db were to be expected, so I'd trust that sign over any kids on the internet telling me how loud a movie theater is.

I never said that, Superman said that.

A movie at 40% setting on my system is as loud as a commercial theater; and much cleaner.

LOL says the guy that has never used A1Evo but can.
Then constantly argues it's not the same as Dirac!

On that note, constantly claims Dirac is so great especially ART.
Then says DLBC is a VERY slight benefit(505 vs rz30)!

Constantly tells people if you're buying an AVR without ART that's bad(no influenceWink ).
Yet for him it's not worth it and he could have had both(DLBC&ART) for $460 last BF!!!
I would be confused also! LOL

I'm not a vendor (never was). Can't say the same for some of you! Besides, what's that say about you when you think someone's opinion is "wrong"?

If clean power is what you crave, I haven't seen anything on SD in recent memory that would satisfy you, let alone this $325 amp. I have an older XPA2 2-channel amp that benched at 265W per channel into 8 ohms, and 410W per channel into 4 ohms and retailed for $799 over 15 years ago (back when Emotiva was good). This "competent" amp would retail for $1228 in today's inflated economy! Especially for amps, I don't think you can get "good" for "cheap"!

I just post stuff that I think is a deal, and others on SD could possibly use.

Just because I post a deal, it does not mean that I 'personally' bought it (I've posted 100s of deals); or that it would currently satisfy me.

But, thousands of us (myself included) have bought receivers that will lock into 20w mode once exposed to a 4Ω load.

So, much better to have 130wpc @ 4Ω for the price of a dozen slabs of vinyl, than to limp along at 20wpc .
