The SW-15 is a big, budget home theater sub that is praised for strong output and surprisingly deep bass for the money. Audioholics measurements are cited as showing about 117.5 dB at 63 Hz, around 107 dB at 30 Hz, and roughly 98 dB at 20 Hz, with reports that it can pressurize a medium living room and work well for music and movies. The main cautions are reliability and support, with amp failures and dead units reported around the one to two year mark, and some pointing to better warranty or service from RSL and Dayton alternatives.
The subwoofer can reach very high output at 30 Hz and 20 Hz according to Audioholics CEA-2010 based calculations.
The deal can be cheaper with the SHOP50 coupon that applies to the 12-inch variant and many other Monoprice items.
The SW-15 can provide audible low-frequency information down to around 20 Hz across multiple music genres.
The SW-15 can work as a soundbar sub mod because it includes high-level inputs.
The plate amp can fail after about one year, and replacement may cost more than buying a new sub.
The listing specs may omit voice coil size and resonant frequency information, which makes system details harder to verify.
Amazon reviews are not encouraging for this product.
Monoprice after-sales support may require shipping back the entire Monolith sub for amp issues instead of sending a replacement amplifier.

2) Bro wants a sub for 250 bucks that beats out SVS in raw performance.

It's an okay sale on a great sub with free shipping. Record prices were ~$270 years ago, $299 recently. I didn't want to wait to replace my failed DT Supercube 2000 office sub any longer.
If your $1k sub sounds like trash, sorry but it's not the sub, that's likely user error.
