Not sure why the website shows freq. response as 30hz to 150hz (-10db) That's crazy talk! The 12 inch measured down to 20 hz and this one measures down to 15 Hz! It's a super deal!!

The SW-15 is a big, budget home theater sub that is praised for strong output and surprisingly deep bass for the money. Audioholics measurements are cited as showing about 117.5 dB at 63 Hz, around 107 dB at 30 Hz, and roughly 98 dB at 20 Hz, with reports that it can pressurize a medium living room and work well for music and movies. The main cautions are reliability and support, with amp failures and dead units reported around the one to two year mark, and some pointing to better warranty or service from RSL and Dayton alternatives.

Common Questions (5)

At $250, the SW-15 is described as a lot of SPL for the money and a strong entry-level option. The RSL Speedwoofer 10E/10S is repeatedly framed as the better-built alternative with stronger warranty/support, but it costs more, around $315 for the 10E or about $399 for the 10S sale target.

It can play both music and movies, and several comments say it has enough output to work well in either role at this price. For best music results, the thread emphasizes room correction, PEQ/DSP, and proper crossover setup; without that, bass integration can suffer.
deshwasi BlueMallard431 TNFergus ROOSKIE
There are reports of plate-amp failures after about one to two years, including units dying just after the one-year warranty. One comment also notes Monoprice may require returning the whole sub for amp issues, unlike some specialist brands that ship replacement amps.
techie1980 kevin_1981 Zorba1446
The published 30-150 Hz (-10 dB) spec is disputed by measurements cited in the thread. Audioholics CEA-2010 results are referenced as showing about 107 dB at 30 Hz and 98 dB at 20 Hz, with one comment claiming the SW-15 measures down to roughly 15 Hz.
CSOCSO ROOSKIE
Yes. The SW-15 has high-level inputs, and one comment specifically recommends it as a decent upgrade for a soundbar setup using a "sub mod."

1) Meant for music.
2) Bro wants a sub for 250 bucks that beats out SVS in raw performance.

Take your pick on which argument you sounds best

I mean, for like $70 more, you can get an RSL Speed Woofer.

I just did. Speedwoofer 10E for $315 right now: https://rslspeakers.com/products/...woofer-10e
It's an okay sale on a great sub with free shipping. Record prices were ~$270 years ago, $299 recently. I didn't want to wait to replace my failed DT Supercube 2000 office sub any longer.

People overthink subs, all subs sound horrible without DSP room correction. It doesn't matter how much the sub costs. Those anechoic measurements only validates the "power" they're claiming.Take any $1000 subwoofer, put it in any house, instant peak around 60-100 hz, instant trash.

Also, what matters more when using DSP is its actual maximum undistorted SPL at each frequency. A "flat" sub which is less capable if its max at 20 Hz is 10dB lower than another "non-flat" sub.

Well pretty much all AVRs offer room correction, you can even add it.

If your $1k sub sounds like trash, sorry but it's not the sub, that's likely user error.
