Strereo is from 2019 and requires a WIRED connection for apple carplay.

I genuinely don't like shopping for stereo's today (or most electronics TBH), I have to do full product research like I'm still in college to trying figure out all the pro's and con's.

This DMH-1500NEX unit was released in 2020 and has an older resistive touchscreen.

Spend another $40 and get the 2025 DMH-1800HEX with capacitive touchscreen and other improvements. https://www.bestbuy.com/product/p...3KVTTH2FZ/

Looks like that one is wired CarPlay too. Is there a good/inexpensive option from a known brand that supports wireless and has modern upgrades like a capacitive touchscreen?

does anyone here have experience with car stereo installation from Best Buy? The site says installation is from $99, is there any other hidden costs? Do they usually rewire the existing backup camera to a new unit?

Not hidden but you need a wiring harness and the mount kit for your car. They typically have some in stock but not an extensive selection. You can hand carry your own parts but you need to be sure they are correct for your vehicle. Best buy does not do custom installations.

also note very few of the pioneer car stereo products have real GPS navigation capability. Most of them rely on the cellular network connection via your phone to provide navigation data. It's really sad that pioneer sold out to the Chinese company that owns it now they used to make some really nice stuff.
