This is the old one, it's still pretty good but doesn't have the nice replaceable lenses and higher resolution/specs as the max2. From a software standpoint it will probably not get updates as much. I own two of them, overall it's a pretty good price for a 360 camera but dated now

You'd be better off with a dedicated, hardwired dashcam, like a Viofo A119 Mini 2 or a dual camera setup.

I've owned one for the last 4 years and never had any overheating issues. The 360 stuff wasn't supported for a while so I started using it as a regular cam to record my rides. I think they might have updated the app for the 360 portion.
