I am not an expert bc I have always had central ac. Does anyone know why a few hundred more for a wall unit is worth it over a window unit? This Frigidaire below is a window unit and 14300 BTU for $377

Most mini splits are inverter systems, so they will have some advantages.

-you don't lose the use of the window
-they heat and cool (a lot of window units are ac only)
-higher efficiency
-quieter (less sound)

This requires a 220v outlet aka dryer outlet. It uses roughly half the electricity a regular 120V unit will use. Like all appliances, you're paying more for higher efficiency.

Edit: I did some thinking (fact checked myself) and I'm totally wrong. There is no difference except whether or not you want to use up window space and what size of a breaker you can get away with running the respective units. The window unit you linked has 300 more BTU but runs more efficiently than this post.

A 230V air conditioner does not inherently use less electricity than a 115V unit. Electrical consumption is measured in watts, and two air conditioners with the same cooling capacity (BTUs) will consume roughly the same amount of total power, regardless of their voltage.

I've read about mini split inverter systems in the past, and understand how those can be much better. It doesn't appear that the link I posted or the one by OP falls in that category. Am I wrong?

This is not a mini split. This is a window AC that goes through your exterior wall instead of through a window.

How do I hang this ac on my wall? Wouldn't the water drip inside my house then? Wouldn't all the noise and hot air be inside my house? Doesn't make sense all at

Sounds like my renters many years ago. They put the window a/c unit on the coffee table to cool the living room.

First off this is a horrible deal since I paid about $450 for mine! Second, it pukes condensation out of the vents onto the control panel. It shorted out the control panel and failed to operate. That's when I contacted the manufacturer for a warranty claim. They sent me a new one that did the exact same thing! So two turds for the price of one? How does that balance out? I recently gave the two away just to get them out of my sight. I now run LG inverter AC's and I'm not looking back!
