I highly recommend separate sensors and just using your phone etc for display like with a system like ECOWITT which makes all the sensors for all the other brands like fine-offset and ambient-weather

basically this $20 tiny hub the size of a deck of cards

https://www.amazon.com/Ecowitt-Te...B0978XLG8T

it has wifi to upload to weather services or wherever you want

and that hub has temp/humidity/barometer

but you can add on all sorts of things easy

https://www.amazon.com/s?k=ecowit...ix=ecowitt

the sensors often appear on that amazon haul 50%off sale too, I buy one each sale for $7 and now have six around the apartment and outside

Here to say some very good things about this brand.

I very recently replaced a 20 year old monochrome screen weather device from Accurite. I accidentally dropped it while changing batteries. I did consider this color one that is currently on sale, but it requires an ac connection to operate. The monochrome one is fully battery operated so it works for me as I have it hanging on the wall like a photo frame.

Highly recommend this brand for accuracy and durability. I would buy another weather station from Accurite without hesitations.

If you are looking at an app to get your weather temps, cool but those readings are not at your house. Perhaps it doesn't make a difference to you. Some of us like to see temp details that are from our backyard/frontyard. This is a very accurate device.

Do you have to take it for a walk outside to get the surrounding temperature? What's the actual technology as I'm really interested in an accurate unit

How many miles separate your front and back yards?

The unit itself has a built-in temp/humidity sensor for indoors and has a separate wireless unit you place outside in the shade. You can also adjust the offset so in the event its "off" you can tune it in.

I've been using a Celestron Home Cast Lite. It works exactly the same way: It has a separate sensor, which is hung somewhere in the back yard. The main display shows the inside and outside temperatures of your house.

My house's insulation is terrible. The scorching heat during summer months is no joke. We turn on the AC during the day, when needed, until the outside temp drops lower than the inside. We open the windows and use window fans.

My Celestron happens to have died today. I guess this is a great upgrade.

100%. The weather apps I use get info from a town about 10 miles to the SE. Because of the topography around me, that town does not get anywhere near the wind that I get. We also run roughly 10 degrees hotter and colder than the town.
