8Bitdo Pro 2 is a versatile retro style wireless controller that stands out for Hall effect sticks, a comfortable grip, and broad compatibility across Switch and Switch 2 after a free firmware update. The included case adds real value, especially for anyone who would have bought one separately, and the battery compartment is a highlight because it accepts either the rechargeable pack or standard AA batteries. The main tradeoff is that the Pro 2 is still an older design with fewer extras than the Pro 3, and the case fits the controller only, not a dock. A practical pick for players who want flexibility and a backup pad.
Retro-controller fans who want a backup pad, because the battery is replaceable and it can also run on standard AA batteries.
Players who want a controller with built-in charging convenience, because the battery compartment is designed around a replaceable pack or AA batteries instead.
Yes. The Pro 2 battery is user-replaceable, and the compartment can take either a rechargeable battery pack or 2x AA batteries. That makes it easy to keep using the controller after the original pack wears out.
Yes. The bundle includes a free case, and that case is useful enough that some buyers value it as part of the deal price. The case fits the controller itself, but not the dock.
Just one mans opinion, but this the best damn controller for all systems... period. Now I'm not a pro player or precision nutter, but sheer hand feel and all around versatility this is king of everything I've had in my hands. It's like a old school SNES mated with an OG PlayStation controller and sized to modern day standards. The d-pad is comparable to my hori fightpad. The company does great work.
I have this controller and I can confirm that your comment is correct
Yeah, I snagged this mainly because of the case that I was going to buy anyway for my Ultimate 2, essentially bringing the price to ~$23. Having a solid retro symmetrical-style controller on hand is always a good idea too! I've compared the Pro2 vs Pro3, and the Pro2 wins for me due to the replaceable battery (and the fact that this is my backup/second controller, so I don't want another dock taking up space).
As a sidenote for those with the Ultimate 2, this case only fits the controller itself, not the dock. But I would not be travelling with the dock anyway, so it's perfect. The 8bitdo case designed for the Ultimate was NOT designed for the Ultimate 2, which is apparently slightly bigger, and the buttons/sticks are pressed if you try to squeeze it (+dock) into the case. So, there isn't an official case for the U2.

Retro-controller fans who want a backup pad, because the battery is replaceable and it can also run on standard AA batteries.
Buyers who already planned to purchase a carrying case, because the included case can make the effective cost much lower.
Players who value hand feel and a symmetrical layout, because the grip shape and d-pad feel comfortable across systems.
Multi-system players who want one controller for Switch and Switch 2, because it works on both after a free firmware update.
Players who want a controller with built-in charging convenience, because the battery compartment is designed around a replaceable pack or AA batteries instead.
Travelers who need to pack the dock too, because the included case fits the controller itself, not the dock.
Competitive precision players who are picky about stick feel, because the comments focus on comfort and versatility rather than pro-level accuracy.
