Hopefully when hard date is determined, these current models drop in price!
To buy another AVR that has ALL of the capability of this unit and then add all the Dirac licenses and calibration mic you will be thousands more than this
But you can wait for next year's units
I bet it rolls out at least $1000 more than this though
Actual owners of the product, IMO, are the best resource and I suggest one read the AVS owners thread for tips and tricks

I have owned the sister Pioneer and Integra( still own) units and I think these units are great performers for the money

It's only a beneficial IF you find it beneficial.
Last 3 years are a perfect example why a good resale value is not a good investment.
How often do people say better to go with a PAC unit with Dirac onboard!
Or that no one is going to pay for Dirac!
Sure seems like Bass Control & ART isn't as beneficial as portrayed for the mass market!
Paying the "price" is wasted if you don't imo.
As someone pointed out this isn't capable(& won't)of all the Dirac licenses(ie ART), another $300 for subwoofer correction/integration.
I would add, from owning the 3800 and extensive experience properly implementing this unit.
Based on SONIC capability for surround content, the 3800 is actually was better on that aspect imo.
I will note that my 3800 has all but the 2 powered channel capabilities(don't need them) & I do own ALL Dirac licenses and mic(which cost me a little less than this price).
Power supply is irrelevant for me, mine are way better than what's onboard in this unit.
I would also point out, If all I needed was the Dirac onboard on this, subtract $600.
I agree going to the owners thread over on AVS is a good idea, especially if all you have is onboard Dirac on this.
Base management on AVRs vary from brand and model.
For others it simply does not
This unit could be an alternative to that for some
Additionally, if you want Dirac ART as well as all of the other capability of this unit you will be spending likely thousands more

I would also point out the stellar review from Audioholics , where a well-known, published AV reviewer, Gene Dellasalla suggests it is the best AVR under $3500

The new RZ71 is adding access to ART & rumored possibly 6 independent sub outs.
I agree Onkyo is going to have to be aggressive with pricing with that it because $1000 for that is going to be a hard pill to swallow imo.
Especially since the 3800 already offers that capability for much less than the presumed $2700!

Post the spec sheets to the RZ71 amp/power supply and DACS if you would?
On another note
If you are going to move up from this unit and obtain 100% of its capability/specs along with ART , you are paying a lot more than $1000 today
So assuming you are correct in that the RZ71 will have all of the same( or higher ) capability and add Dirac ART for $1000..then that is a better deal that you can obtain right now anywhere
So $1000 more sounds like a deal to me, based on the current landscape
