Do NOT use just a foam mattress on these. The foam goes through the bars. You will need a box spring or 3/4" plywood to keep that from happening.
Please trust me on this. If you don't... You are going to feel the pain. You are warned.

Unless you're really on a budget, I highly recommend buying a frame with inset center legs or you will be stubbing your toe regularly.
