At this discounted price you are getting a brand new guitar at basically exactly where the used market commands for these models, which is to say it's a great price. I only have experience with the American Professional II line (not the Classic) - although I sold mine due to favoring vintage specs, if you are a fan of a fuller C neck profile these guitars are fantastic.

Market is actually very saturated right now. I have a few of these Strats a, pro I, pro 2, deluxe tele.. Resale for like new mint pro Strat 1 or2 (or classic) is between $650-1000, plus shipping, if you are slightly patient. Classic doesn't come w a case.

Teles are a little harder to find, but still easy to get under $1000.

Very true, you're right on, especially after tax is considered. I've purchased two Am Pro IIs (both Telecasters lol) and got each for $900-950 in mint condition and that was a bit ago. So at $1200-1250 before tax these are definitely at the upper end of the used pricing range, but a solid deal if someone is looking to buy brand new

This is a decent price for a poly finish and thinner neck Fender.

Agreed. No one should spend any money on Fender for their lawsuit against others who have made their own version of better Fender like guitars.

Agreed. Same with Gibson and DiMarzio (who sued others over the COLOR of the pickups, not any kind of special technology).

Nothing wrong with companies getting a price they can get honestly; not dishonestly.

A. The most profit per unit is not the most volume, nor making value for your dollar, using new, mass, quality methods. Stop with the sales brain washing (Like ranging) and make a better product, at a better price. That's the job. For shareholders following too.

B. Rolands's (The do all BOSS Katana etc..) was busted, GUILTY of price fixing. Withholding supply to music stores who did not go along! And I've seen it still going on! Consider used (LOW priced) only there, and it's limited soon (3 years max) old model life spans. As far as retained value goes. And if a major part goes out then so much for repair (time and parts cost), by anyone. It will have to be put down and replaced, financially. I had to fix the switch-jack internally and it was 3x harder to get at and far too easy to mess up a connection. Time killing. Fixed it though 100%. I got mine for less than 1/3 the retail price paid. Not 1/3 off. 2/3 off. So that guy took the hit, buying new.

C. The difference between a $50 guitar and a $1251 is NOT $1201.00 ! It is LESS than $200 max. New. Figure that.

I pulled the trigger and got the Tele Deluxe (Dark Night)… not that I needed a 5th guitar!

That's what matters, make yourself happy. Nothing/no one else can do that except yourself.
