Community Reviews
This Hamilton Beach glass electric kettle is a compact 1 liter option for fast boiling and easy tea or coffee prep. The clear glass and blue lights make it fun to watch, and the kettle has been described as lasting for years in similar Hamilton Beach models. It also avoids the cord holder issue seen in a pricier Breville. Main cautions are the small capacity, a lid that can snap off, a nonremovable filter, and a switch that may need fiddling over time.
Common Questions (5)
Several comments suggest 1 liter is on the small side and that a 1.5L or 1.7L kettle is more practical if you want more than one cup at a time. The smaller size still works for quick coffee or tea, but it limits how much hot water you can make per boil.
The kettle has a simple switch design that can require fiddling over time, and some report the switch eventually becomes hard to turn on. The lid can also snap off, so those are the main wear points mentioned.
Yes. The glass base can get very hot to the touch because the heating element transfers heat into the kettle body, so it is not a cool-touch design.
The filter on this model reportedly cannot be removed, and the lid can snap off. That makes cleaning and handling less convenient than kettles with a fully removable lid.
Yes, it uses a steam cutoff switch. The shutoff depends on steam reaching the sensor, so leaving the lid open can prevent it from turning off normally.

I used to just buy breville until my last model. It has a defect where its cord would slowly get torn by its own cord holder underneath.
Now I have a much cheaper Hamilton that doesn't have this problem
