Because of a bad deal made in the 80s, Harmony Gold controls Macross outside asia for life. Due to this, The creators of Japan cannot give us any of the Japanese Macross series or toys without paying Harmony Gold. It has been a legal fight for 40+ years. It was said to have been resolved but Harmony Gold has gone back to its shenanigans. We will never see anything Japanese Macross in the US. Harmony Gold is a simple Patent troll collecting money. They will never do anything with the robotech property, but will never allow us to have Japanese Macross

Yes, there is a blu-ray full series set out there (NOT steelbook). Check Crunchyroll, I think that's where I got mine.

I remember they did the 5.1 remix for the DVD release. I'm assuming similar treatment to the Blu-ray as well. Honestly they should've kept the original mono tracks.

They actually showed Macross: Do you Remember Love? at Anime Expo 2026 this past weekend, which was considered a official showing in the US Market, so hopefully its starting to open the doors for the original series.
