The magnet ones detect drywall screws and nails all the time. Unfortunatley, those aren't always in the middle of the studs, if they're in the studs at all.

True. But, for me, the electronic ones often do not even find the stud. The magnetic ones ALWAYS find the screw, and I can take it from there. I've owned many electronic finders. No more.

The only electronic ones I use anymore are the multi-sensor Franklins. They're pretty spot on without the false positives.
