Stay away from Hexclad. Their products are trash and their customer service is even worse.

The Phillips is a solid deal. I bought a 3400 refurb direct from Phillips last year and love it.

after a bad experience with a Ninja Creami on woot, I'd be hesitant to purchase refurbs for appliances. I love my Philips but have heard a lot of complaints about the machines failing so I'd want a longer warranty

I haven't had really any issues with my Philips espresso machine, I don't have the latte go variant though. I just imagine there's a little more maintenance to it.

That being said, do your maintenance on the machine or the coffee tastes markedly worse. If you have hard water, make sure you filter the water before using.

Buy the tablets and use them. It matters.

How exactly are they bad? Is there a common issue with these?

They scratch easily and they lose their nonstick coating quickly. Some of their pans have been known to have their material flake and erode away. When you attempt to contact them, they make you jump through so many hoops when you try to get a refund or replacement.

I started reading up roght after I read your comment and lots of the same complaints can be found online. Thanks for saving me the headache. I was about to buy these at Costco this week.
