The one underrated feature I will mention though: you can force SDR mode at least for some streaming apps. While this might sound like a downgrade, a lot of TVs have HDR support but not high enough peak brightness for actual high quality HDR. What happens is the TV is super dark when playing HDR content and really only clearly viewable at night. SDR compresses that color range but makes the average brightness way brighter which looks good during daytime on a mid-range TV.
Community Reviews
Apple TV 4K stands out as a fast, polished streamer for replacing sluggish smart TV interfaces, with snappy navigation, no ads, and smooth playback over Wi Fi. It is especially appealing for Apple ecosystem users and for setups that want privacy, better app responsiveness, or Ethernet on the 128GB model. The main drawback is value, since the 64GB Wi Fi version lacks Ethernet and past prices were lower, with several references to cheaper 128GB sales. A solid pick if you want a cleaner streaming interface and do not need the wired model.
Common Questions (5)
It can be, because the 128GB Ethernet model has been seen at $139 at Sam's Club and via Best Buy price match, while rumors put the next base model around $250 and the Ethernet model around $300. That makes this $124.99 listing notably cheaper if you do not need Ethernet.
It is described as the snappiest option, with a polished UI, no ads, and faster skip-back behavior than Roku. It also feels much smoother than some smart TV interfaces, especially on TVs with laggy built-in software.
Waiting may cost more, since the next Apple TV 4K is expected to land around $200 to $300 depending on the model. The current unit is also described as having sold out quickly in past deals, so buying now can make sense if you need one immediately.
No. The 64GB Wi‑Fi model does not include an Ethernet port; the 128GB model adds Ethernet and more storage. If wired networking matters for your setup, the 128GB version is the one to look for.
Yes, quality over Wi‑Fi is reported as still decent, and it can be a strong upgrade for TVs with slow built-in launchers. A very strong nearby Wi‑Fi signal is the key factor for using it as a Home hub when Ethernet is impractical.

I was specifically looking for something that was going to support Emby with Dolby Vision and match the proper frame rate, but it wasn't matching the frame rate at the time (can't speak to now).
