I got one right after they announced the price hike. Kind of mixed feelings: it works well for what it is, it's snappy, UI is fairly polished, no ads. Still quite a bit of money to drop to do what smart TV can do already with less lag. If you're super fed up with unresponsive TV UI, then get it, but if you're borderline, eh it's not life changing and ultimately was a bit of a FOMO purchase for me.
The one underrated feature I will mention though: you can force SDR mode at least for some streaming apps. While this might sound like a downgrade, a lot of TVs have HDR support but not high enough peak brightness for actual high quality HDR. What happens is the TV is super dark when playing HDR content and really only clearly viewable at night. SDR compresses that color range but makes the average brightness way brighter which looks good during daytime on a mid-range TV.
Thanks for the info. I was wondering. Now I'll pass.

We just got this after being aggravated with a newer Roku, and we love it. Very simple to set up, and no annoying ads. No complaints.

I got the Onn 4k Pro and tested it out when it was new, it was a pretty nice device, it wasn't nice enough to replace my Apple TV box, but it was close.

I was specifically looking for something that was going to support Emby with Dolby Vision and match the proper frame rate, but it wasn't matching the frame rate at the time (can't speak to now).

I finally got around to upgrading from my 1st gen apple tv. I decided to go with the NVIDIA Shield last week. I did a bit of research and went with the shield for better audio output, especially if you have a home theater.

quality is still decent via wifi. it's still a great upgrade for people with perfectly fine working tvs that have crappy stock launchers.

All the comments talk about smart tvs and fire sticks and roku. Does anybody not have Google TV native to their sets? Works so well, even with an add on the main page. Im there for maybe one second before I'm in my app. I have an apple TV on my projector and works fine, but I hate the remote. People are spending 200 on these things when a really nice TV, with google tv, is 600. Don't understand...
