The new Apple TVs will be out in September with rumored 4 different models. TVOS 27 that will be running on these will include Siri AI which will make all other models obsolete. If you don't care about the AI features, the current boxes will be dirt cheap when the new ones release IMHO. Personally, I can't wait for them to release and I will pay the premium to get one. I am currently beta testing MacOs 27, IOS 27, and WatchOs 27 and the new AI features are very impressive.

Not an apple person but i bought the 128gb with ethernet port a couple months ago. Up til now I've been using smart tvs or game consoles and this blows them away. Haven't had an issue.

So what year did these features come out on Android/Windows which Apple is going to proclaim are now state of the art?

I've always been curious if anybody has had FireStick 4K vs Apple tv, had one made the switch and never looked back? I've always had a firestick (chrome cast before that) and don't know any better

I bought the 128GB back in March for $154. Not sure if that price comes back.

I have Apple, Amazon and Roku

Like Apple the best
Like Roku 2nd best

They actually all work pretty decently for standard apps. Apple is snappiest but that's about it.

That might be useful information if you could also point us to a deal on a time machine.

In my survey of devices I have a firestick 4k max, roku ultra, nvidia shield, and apple tv. The firestick I didn't particularly like the remote, nor the amazon interface, but it supported passthrough HD audio for Kodi so I used it only for that; I've since switched to the shield for Kodi. The roku I used for general streaming primarily because of the remote: comfortable to hold/use, buttons different enough-shaped to be found by feel without looking, illuminated buttons when I did want to look, and especially the dedicated skip-back button that I use more than any other button. After getting the 128 apple tv because of the recent price hike announcement, what I've noticed in particular is that it's had no delay when skipping back, whereas the roku gives me a spinning cursor for a half second or more very often when skipping back. That by itself has made the apple tv more satisfying to use than the roku, irrespective of the remote etc. So I didn't switch from the firestick to the apple per se, but chose the roku over there firestick, and switched from the roku to the apple tv.

I'm not an apple fan boy and only gave in for this Aplle TV box.. I like to diversify since I consume a lot of news and media. YMMV with what apps you use mostly and if Fire TV or Apple TV support them. I have most of them, Fire Cube, Fire Max 4k stick, Roku and ONN.

I recently dropped Youtube TV for alternative free streams. Discovered quite a few to keep me busy.. Yes Apple TV is worth it but I actually get more out of my ONN pro and plus with Chromecast support. Like I said I don't have fruity phone or tablet, just the Apple TV and it's limited somewhat because of that. Obviously price matters too, Apple costing a lot more than ONN boxes.

I actually have two ATV already with dual displays, one being a Sony Oled for movies and PC monitor. Software support matters also.. My Roku TV and Ultra boxes just got a new update so the jury is still out on them. Both Roku and Fire TV OS are not holding up well compared to the others.
