For me it keeps wanting to be $522. Looks like a reasonable spec little machine for $500. Have a laptop that is very similar.
Keep in mind the ram type used would not be upgradable in the future....should it ever cost less than its weight in gold again.

I've had an ace magician for 4 years running 24/7 and have never had an issue with it. I will say the first thing I did was do a fresh install of Windows.

https://a.co/d/06dwOG5a this has 16GB ram, expandable. Same GPU, also external GPU support, 1TB drive and is only $450

Not bad. It has Oculink, which is a big plus if someone wants to turn it into a mini gaming PC. Be aware it has a 1x16GB SODIMM, so you'd really need to pair it with another for the dual channel performance boost.

16GB LPDDR5

Because it's LPDDR5, it is indeed soldered.

I bought one of these with the 6800H processor and had major issues with the USB ports. Every time I plugged something into a port the PC would lock up. I had to return the PC for a refund.

Any suggestions on if this would make a good Steam Machine alternative? It'll mostly play indie games.

780m has a little under half of the GPU compute compared to the steam machine, but should work for light games.

IIRC its comparable to a GTX 1050

Bought Three units in the past. One from Amazon and two directly from them.
They died for one reason or other within one year and customer service is so bad, I rather keep them as paper weight instead of sending it to them.
Dont buy this brand.

Always good advice for these Chinese brands. This brand in particular had some spyware controversy: https://www.tomshardware.com/desk...t-shipment

I think it's between the Steam Deck and the Steam Machine in performance, if that helps.

So I just sold my FireBat that had the 780m and I got the F5A from Acemagic with a 370hx.

I really like these mini pc's. And installing a new OS was identical on both models.

TO INSTALL A NEW OS....

1. Download from Microsoft
2. Use Rufus so you don' t have to log into microsoft... to make USB thumbdrive with OS (SUPER EASY TO MAKE)... and install your OS.
3. After your OS is installed, YOU WILL NEED the WLAN driver (make sure you have this downloaded and also installed on a thumb drive, can be the same one as the OS)
4. once WLAN driver is installed connect to your wifi and start updating Windows.
5. once windows is FULLY upto date (may have to run updates three times)... go to google.com and search "AMD DRIVER SOFTWARE" and install it and run it and it will install AMD's newest drivers that fit your machine.
6. Finally, I still needed to install the BT driver to get the BT working on both systems.

And that was it. EASY PEASY.

The motherboard was already synced with microosft so Windows OS was already registered.

About the RAM...

It is sad that this is not 32GB or at least 24GB of RAM. But most things do work well enough with 16GB.

The RAM is 6400MT/s RAM... the fastest exchangeable RAM runs at 5600MT/s so this is faster but not by much... but the faster speed will make your system run faster.

Soldered RAM can run as fast as 8533 MT/s... which can relate to a 10-15% increase in speed vs 5600MT/s.
