NiimBlue is a free website and Android app that'll let you design and print labels for these printers without an account. it has its own Bluetooth pairing process, but i found it worth it. i don't need any more accounts or subscriptions in my life.

At the end of the day, these are Ink free thermal labels - meaning the paper is coated with thermally sensitive coating, and the printer selectively heats the area turning them dark (hence achieving a 'print'). These cannot be relied for lasting a longer time in storage under temperatures.

The best bet for those cases is to go with a Transfer printing tech. A Phomemo P12 ($9.47) uses this kind of tech. It comes with a bi-layer of Label and an ink ribbon, and the printer transfers the ink from the ribbon to the label. The printer however doesn't come with a rechargeable Li-Ion battery. You need to use AAA batteries or plug and use a USB-C cable.

Thanks a million! Sounds like that might suit my needs then. I won't be washing anything but would be handling them (for example on the bottom of a laptop), if it lasted 6 months on a wallet it may survive a year or two on a laptop if I pick a spot that isn't normally directly handled.
