Hexgears X1 Pro is a very cheap 68 key wireless mechanical keyboard that stands out as a strong entry level board for tinkering, with hot swappable switches, double shot PBT keycaps, and Bluetooth or 2.4 gigahertz connectivity. The steel plate gives it a solid, weighted feel, the included wrist rest is appreciated, and the stock switches are quiet enough for office use. The backlight is hard to see unless viewed from directly above, and wireless performance can feel laggy in games. It is a budget board with enough hardware to make modding worthwhile.
Common Questions (5)
At $22.99 it is widely described as a strong budget mechanical keyboard, especially for hot-swapping, modding, or using the switches alone. It is not the highest-quality board, but it is still considered competitive with keyboards under $100.
It uses a steel plate with very little flex, double-shot PBT keycaps, and Kailh switches, and the case already includes foam between the PCB and plate. The wrist rest is hard plastic, and the switches can be difficult to remove without separating the PCB and plate.
Yes. It has hot-swappable switches and wireless connectivity over Bluetooth or 2.4GHz, making it a cheap board to swap switches or learn keyboard mods. The board is also described as a strong entry-level mechanical for under $25.
Wireless performance can be poor for gaming, with lag or sudden unresponsiveness that can ruin online play. It is better suited to general typing than competitive wireless gaming.
The backlight is very hard to see unless you are looking at the keyboard from directly above, so it is not very useful in the dark. That limitation is a major reason some rate the board closer to $20 than its full price.
