Casein is good for pre-bedtime supplementation and for baking high protein foods. Downside is that it's usually higher in lactose for those who are sensitive. Good deal because whey prices are getting stupid.

Casein supplies muscles for at least 8 hours. It's only one way to maintain protein level and decrease catabolism at night

I feel like i'm almost never eligible anymore, wtf amazon
I lost any deal for nutritions after I had bought around 10 lb of protein. I have not seen any deals for at least 2 years, whereas my wife and son have the deals which I find on slickdeals
Is this good in place of regular flavored protein powder supplement for shakes? We prefer unsweetened anyways.
Yes.
Unflavored has an odd taste and smell. It's like earthy milk (not rotten), atomized cardboard, and babies' breath. Hard to explain. The consistency is like powdered paper. You might need a little more fruit and/or liquid to "hide" it, But it's not that bad. It covers up pretty easily for me.
I use unflavored casein in yogurt with blueberries and kiwi along with a packet of True Lemon. It's a miracle crystal for flavoring. True Lemon works great in water too:

I agree with you, I couldn't drink it on its own. I use mine for baking now... from chocolate chip cookies to banana bread, it hides the strong smell really well.
