How expensive it is!
Think of it as a few dollars a year for the rest of your life, then after that someone else gets to use it.

For those wondering, the Epicure is a discontinued line from Wusthof. If it matters to you, it may be difficult to make a whole set of knifes from this line up. That said, I bought one for my daughter who is just starting out on her own. This will be a great knife for her. I may pick up a couple others that are still available. Thanks for sharing this deal!

Here is my copilot generated summary for those interested:
Epicure was a forged mid‑tier Wüsthof line built with Richlite handles, wider blades, and a comfort‑focused half‑bolster design. It offers a stable, confidence‑inspiring feel with excellent ergonomics and a slightly heavier balance than Classic. Think of it as a premium, comfort‑oriented alternative to Classic that sits stylistically between Classic Ikon and Amici.

I've had a set of Classic for over 20 years and love it as much now as on day 1. Highly recommend Wusthof.
Thanks for posting this. I had most of this info in the original post. For who knows what reason the Admins repost it with worse info than I had! Very annoying.

The one at the price is from the Gourmet line which is stamped, this one is forged. I cannot find a forged Wusthof at $75. Can you share the link?

No it isn't, different lines are not the same, there are lower quality lines at that price point. The "Gourmet" line is much cheaper quality "stamped", not forged.

This is a good quality mid-range knife, but even some of the overselling vs the classic line should be pointed out. The classic line is much heavier with a full bolster.

Just a couple of more details:
  • Wüsthof Epicure blades are precision-forging from X50CrMoV15 high-carbon stainless steel.
  • The Wüsthof Epicure line handles are crafted from the same tactile, heavy-duty wood composite material used for Epicurean® cutting boards. Made from sustainably grown and recycled wood fibers, the Richlite handles feel warm and comfortable like wood but resist warping and fading.

Subscribing the newsletter saved my another 8 dollars. Frankly speaking, I think a lot of the forged knives selling on Amazon made in China such as Shanzu or Hoshanho have comparable qualities, but for a few more dollars getting the Wusthof logo on the blade totally worth it.

At 58 HRC, the hardness is on par with the Zwilling Professional line. While it makes for a great, durable everyday kitchen knife, don't expect the same edge retention you would get from harder Japanese steels like VG-10 or above

I have nice Chinese knives with the same exact steel as these and they do not have the finish/balance of these knives, nor do they hold their sharpness as long despite claiming the same HRC. you will see a noticeable difference with a Wusthof vs. a Hoshanho.

Got one for my wife with the 10% off email signup. Will see how she likes it vs the Zwilling Pro Smart Ridge I got from another slick deal a couple years ago.

Can anyone tell me what kind of packaging this came in? (Was it in a box or just bubble wrapped... Was there any insert with series details or warranty info... Etc) Debating whether or not to buy a second one as a gift.
