I don't think that matters, I bought a 34x20 though the litter area is a little smaller due to storage area, I just dump the whole box of litter 29-30lbs works perfect, litter lasts a bout a month before I have to top off a little and then about every 6 weeks I completely change the litter with a new one. My 22lbs tabby uses the litter box about 2-4 times a day depending on urinate or poop, and since I went with the large litter box, he does not spill any litter out or jumps or gets irritated when I don't get a chance clean until I get home from work.

Make sure to use a liner if you are going to buy this type of litter box. Sometimes cats pee higher, and urine can slip and leak through the intersection.

Liners don't work. Tried them for a while and my cats would completely mess up the liner within a day.

My cat ended up shredding a liner with her nails when she buried her deposits. It was actually less mess not to use them (with a one-piece, high-sided box, instead).

Exactly. My cat pees perpendicular.

But I got this one instead. There's even a graphic that illustrates an overlapping inner lip to guard against a side pee'er:

Wait what? You leave the cat litter in the box for 6 weeks? Your house must smell like the bathrooms at Fenway Park at the 7th inning stretch.

If you don't scoop yes it will stink. I scoop twice a day and I scoop generously, I have one cat. I swap the litter every 4 to 6 weeks and wash and replace a full box of arm and hammer. With 30-35lbs in the jumbo 30x24 litter box no such a smell problems using decent litter media not the $10 play sand type litter. Smilie
