Welcome to 2026. DRAM / HBM / NAND demand is higher than the available production and supply, and there have been zero signs from any of the hyperscalers that they'll stop their datacenter buildouts. Micron, Samsung, SK Hynix and Sandisk at quarterly earnings meetings have repeatedly said demand is likely to outstrip supply even into next year, so don't count on seeing last year's prices again at retail. Unless the datacenter buildout crashes, we aren't going to see production ramp meaningfully until late 2027 and 2028.
Is 512GB ssd big enough for a gaming laptop? Looking to buy one, but I think it's best to hold for 1tb.
Hopefully someone with more knowledge will step in and correct me if I'm wrong ... for what it's worth the asus tuf gaming laptops.. I'm guessing that includes this model.. have a second m2 drive slot for a second m2 hard drive so you can get extra storage that way and it's crazy easy to install (youtube videos can be found online that walk you through how to do it) ... the problem is finding an m2 drive that doesn't cost you an arm and a leg .. depends on what games you're running but I'd argue unless you're the type to download and play only one game until it's finished, uninstall it and move on to the next one (some people do that) 512 GB sadly might be too small if you want to have a few games you go back and forth between.
