I wondered that too. Coke, Coke Zero, Fanta, Sprite, Pepsi, and many others are all named with "Soda Pop" in the product title. I figure it's because they cover both names that people call it. 🤷
Where i'm at, in the pacific northwest, people commonly say "pop". Especially north of the border where BC supermarkets usually have a "soda pop" aisle.
Me personally, I'll either say "soda" or "soady pop". never "pop" by itself.
