If anyone was wondering (I certainly was) why they're called dolphin shorts, it's NOT because the slit in the side looks like the characteristic outline of a dolphin tail like I had thought, but because the original brand to produce the style of shorts was Dolfin.

Plot twist. Maybe Dolfin patterned the design to the characteristic outline of a dolphin and just called themselves Dolfin... like when in other languages, "ph" becomes "f"
