The Merak is a compact CD player that works especially well as a transport for a stereo system, with strong measured performance and good sound into an external DAC. The built in headphone amp can drive Sennheiser HD 600, and the one touch ripping feature writes WAV files directly to a USB drive without a separate PC. It includes a remote, manual, and USB A to C cable, but no USB power adapter, aux cable, or optical cable. The line output is described as stereo, though the built in DAC and headphone output are only so so, and coaxial output would have been preferred.

I grabbed one. The reason CDs might be making a comeback is that streaming isn't the same as owning the music you love. Plus, you can find CDs so cheap right now! Way cheaper than vinyl. I'm so happy CDs might be coming back. I still have my 500-CD case. I've got a huge old receiver and a massive 25-disc player. I also have a big 5-CD player. This one is so small and simple. Maybe the updated version will have Bluetooth or take batteries or be rechargeable. If not, this is fine.

"CD-RW (partially readable)" I don't know what that means, but can't you burn a new CD if it doesn't?
