Is this easier to use than a Bambu Lab A1 mini? They are basically the same price now. What is the benefits of this one?
It's basically apple vs android.Apple has closed ecosystem, less maintenance and things just work.Android has more options, flexibility, cheaper cost for features.

Double the print area, multi color, maybe this one is enclosed?

I have the ad5m, which is this model, but only one color instead of 4. Got it from AliExpress for about 125. It's excellent for a starter 3d printer. Prints tons of different materials and does a great job.

I don't mean to Ai spew but know you are taking a risk having this in your home printing away:

Yes, 3D printers release microplastics and ultrafine particles (UFPs) into the air during printing. Research confirms that all 3D printers emit these tiny particles, regardless of whether they are consumer-grade or industrial models with filters, as the particles are small enough (often below 100 nanometers) to bypass standard filtration and the lungs' natural defenses.
Health and Environmental Risks
  • Inhalation: These aerosolized plastic particles can embed themselves in the lungs permanently, with some studies linking them to respiratory issues and potential long-term toxicity.
  • Material Variance: While PLA is often considered safer regarding volatile organic compounds (VOCs), it still emits significant particulate matter. Materials like ABS and resin release additional hazardous VOCs (e.g., styrene, formaldehyde) and are more toxic.
  • Environmental Impact: Discarded prints degrade into microplastics that enter the biosphere, though the immediate airborne risk during printing is distinct from long-term landfill degradation.
Mitigation Strategies
  • Ventilation: Always operate printers in well-ventilated areas or exhaust air directly outdoors to dilute particle concentration.
  • Enclosures & Filtration: Use enclosures combined with HEPA and activated carbon filters to capture both ultrafine particles and gaseous VOCs.
  • Post-Processing: Avoid sanding or grinding prints indoors, as this generates dense clouds of microplastics; if necessary, use industrial-grade hazmat filtration and wear appropriate respiratory protection.
I've seen people use tents / enclosures and HEPA to mitigate this.

I was just looking at the ad5x, it's $329 at local microcenter. It's seriously $100+ cheaper from ali? I'm inches away from buying at microcenter to ensure arrival and quality of product, but $100 is tempting. Any experience getting 3d printers from this vendor? What are issues or challenges / considerations compared to the local shop?
I bought one from Ali express and arrived today....1000% legit

Is this a good one to finally jump in on... been holding out for years? I need it mainly to print racks for mini form factor PCs.
