I have this printer with Ace 2 Pro combo from ebay 20% off promo earlier. Great printer and the quality is amazing right out of the box. I'm upgrading from Ender v2 and the difference is night and day. no messing with leveling / calibration etc. What I heard is that Ace 2 is a major upgrade and so far everything worked great.

Why does it seem like everyone is upgrading from an Ender ๐Ÿ˜†

Was it that bad or was it cheap enough that it was one of the earlier, more accessible printers?

Everyone poopoos on Creality but I picked up a K2 earlier this year & it's been awesome... I'm thinking that Enders really soured everyone's opinion on Creality

I think Ender's were one of the more affordable 3d printers whene they came out originally and that must be like 10 years ago. Now there's a lot more available and tech has improved a ton.

I do not own a 3d printer but read forums and articles on them.

Short answer is bambu is a lot better at plug and play but costs more upfront. Bambu also uses proprietary stuff so you're locked into their system.

Anycubic is a very YMMV. Some people get units that work flawlessly and others get duds. So their QA process is questionable. You can tinker more with these too to get the print you want. Having an AMS is really nice if you move beyond PLA printing but also good for PLA.

The early Enders were good in that they opened a door that might otherwise have been out of people's price range. They were very limited machines in that almost everything was open loop. The machine could only assume things are fine and move from there.

In addition to manual leveling, the early build plate materials just were not as good. Today basically everyone is using some type of PEI build plate. Back then people were using other materials that just didn't work as well. So more limited build plate + manual leveling was an issue.

With the Ender V3 generation the Enders became generally easy to use with auto bed leveling (and offset), networking etc. The earlier Enders were a bit like the Model T of printing. They were great because they were cheap and often the only printer anyone had. However, with newer options the Model T went from "so much better than the horse" to obsolete very quickly.

This is a great deal. I almost pulled the trigger on this a few months back, but held back. Now I'm thinking if I should just wait for prices for the multi-tool/multi-head systems to come down. Once it's just a few hundred dollars above this I think the filament savings itself will cover the difference.
